My Project
I work with students who have multiple exceptionalies such as Autism and Speech impairment, Specific learning disabilities. My students are learning to speak out for themselves when they face bullying and other challenges. This is impacting the whole school when they don't know how to express their feelings in a correct way. This causes them to be more aggressive than talking about the issues they face. They are learning to stand up against the stigma they face among their peers and in the community. This is the problem that challenges them every day in school and community.
Special needs students may use a variety of methods to access and communicate using printed materials, depending on their specific needs and abilities.
I will teach my students to effectively use the Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC) systems to communicate. These systems can include picture communication symbols, communication boards, speech-generating devices, or specialized software applications that generate text-to-speech output. They may select symbols or words from printed materials or electronic devices to form sentences or convey their thoughts.
Speaking out through their drawing is the effective mode for students who are non-articulate to address the issues they face in the society. Apart from this, My students' products, their achievements, home-school communication, and their stories will be published using the printer to create an individual student portfolios help the students understand better about themselves and stand up for their rights. It will be helpful for my students to create their own picture communication board to address their problems in school and also to take it further to their community. I can teach many life skills using this picture communication boards especially teaching behavior regulation and money concepts to help them understand financial matters. Thank you for considering the printer for this purpose.
