Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
A bearded dragon habitat allows students to observe a living creature up close, but there's much more to having a library lizard!
The bearded dragon habitat will be a focal point in the library, sparking curiosity and encouraging students to explore science and the natural world.
They will learn about proper nutrition, habitat cleaning, and creating a healthy environment for another living thing.
A bearded dragon habitat can be a springboard for reading and research projects. Students can learn about bearded dragons – their native habitat, diet, and behavior. This can motivate them to delve into non-fiction books and websites.
Sometimes a library can be an intimidating space to students, especially students with reading or learning difficulties. Creating a unique space that includes animals, like a bearded dragon, allows for its care to be a collaborative effort, bringing students together and promoting a sense of shared responsibility within the library despite a child's reading ability!
