This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Do you hear what I hear? I want my ELL learners to listen to classic stories that once build our childhood. Sometimes we just love to hear some other voice read to us too. At times, it seems like a refresher to be able to listen to other voices other than the norm to build fluency and expression.
My students are very grateful for resources that are available now to them more than before.
These 4th graders love to listen to stories. My bilingual students will benefit very much from listening to stories while also building vocabulary, fluency and expression.
My Project
Bilingual students need much more support in Reading than any other subject. My students are hesitant to express themselves in English much more than Spanish. I want them to be exposed to English and read along books that are available on CD. With the addition of a CD player and audio book sets, my students will be more comfortable expressing themselves in English.
This will inevitably change the lives of many students.
This will enable urban bilingual students to be comfortable learning and using the English language more frequently by following the read-along audio books and the CD player to help them listen to these audio books.
