Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I see about 120 students a day as a middle school teacher. All of my students live in a small, poor, migrant community. For many, school is an escape of the daily hardships they face at home. I feel it's my job to make their educational experience as engaging, satisfying, and nurturing as possible.

This new school year, I am so excited that I have so many students who are happy to be in my class and happy to do anything to please.

I want to make their job easier, so the opportunity to learn is greater.

My students are amazing young men and women who want to make good choices and try their hardest.

My Project

Recently our district adopted new CCSS curriculum. A major addition is the online component that provides many virtual, visual, and auditory experiences to promote engagement and enhance learning. My students need headphones so they may work at their own pace. Having individual headphones will enable my students to utilize all of these new resources as needed. They can revisit certain parts of lessons, etc. without disrupting other students. My students will use these headphones on a daily basis to explore all that our new curriculum has to offer.

We live in a technologically driven era and my students love using technology.

It's my goal to let them use a resource that will only make their educational experience better. If I can give them a bit a freedom by having them work at their own pace with headphones, I feel they will want to engage and actually work through the various lessons and tutorials. Long gone are the days when a teacher stands at the front of the room and dictates each and every second on every school day. This will allow my students the freedom take charge of their own learning and feel empowered to do so.

Your generous donation to our project will improve the educational experience of my students. This will change my students' academic lives for the better because they will love learning while using a very basic, but very necessary, part of our technological world.
