My Students
Our school serves a great number of students who are English learners. While struggling with economic and language issues, parents tell their children, "You go to school to learn!" The families are so supportive and appreciative of the education process.
Students in first-grade love reading and learning!
We incorporate a variety of learning strategies, group work, and learning options to ensure that each student's needs are met, right where they are! They are a unique group, and I am constantly implementing new ways to keep them engaged and learning.
My Project
In all my years of teaching, I can not recall a student who did not like Art. My students have always looked forward to their weekly Art class. However, due to funding issues, we will not have an Art teacher this school year. I feel that all students should have Art, especially after such a challenging school year. Students need the opportunity to express themselves. Since students will no longer be able to go to Art, they can have it right in the class with an "Art Center". Students can use colorful murals and drawings to respond in class.
Art instruction helps children with the development of motor skills, language skills, social skills, decision-making, risk-taking, and inventiveness.
Most importantly, children love Art! My project will allow me to integrate art into my daily instruction and provide engaging learning activities for learners at all levels.
Nearly all students from low‑income households
