My Students

My students are amazing young adults who are full of energy and enthusiasm. Each day they bring a story to class. It's their story, and it's told in the way they smile, in the books they choose, and in the way they interact with their peers and with me. Sometimes, their stories are happy and other times they are not. Either way, in my classroom, we are a family. I try to teach my kids to listen to each other's stories with kindness and care.

We are more than numbers on a standardized test or a grade on an essay; we grow together as we enjoy learning together.

My Project

Through this project, I am hoping to give my students a chance to connect to an important character in the book we are reading in class as well as embrace their own unique qualities. In the text, the character is bullied for who he is and what he does, including the buttons he wears. My students quickly start to feel for this character and root against his bully. They learn that the buttons he wears represent him, and they begin to appreciate that he is an amazing person.

In the past, I have asked the kids what they would put on a button and how it would represent them; with this project, I am excited for them to actually make the buttons and wear them proudly!

So I am asking for Design a Button sets, card stock and a circle craft puncher.
