My students need an organized and engaging math center in order to develop a strong love of learning. Sterilite containers are easy for their small hands to manipulate and will keep everything organized for quick transitions.
Do you remember first grade? First graders are learning to read, write, think critically, create, dream, socialize, and compute. My students are first graders who are excited about learning. We are in a high needs district, so we often don't have the materials to meet the needs of these budding learners. I want to be able to provide them with everything they need to create a lifelong love of learning. My goal is to do everything I can to make that happen.
My Project
Have you ever watched a busy group of first graders learning to add and subtract? The simple tools of pencils and paper just don't cut it for these eager learners. Hands-on and engaging activities are vital for their growing minds.
An organized and easily accessible math center will enable my students to quickly access an array of games and manipulatives to make their learning experiences real and concrete.
The level of independence from being able to set up and put away math games on their own will be a tremendous moral boost for these boys and girls who are always eager to help.
