My students need a digital SLR camera and photo paper! We love taking pictures but are using the teacher's phone because we don't have a classroom camera.
Do you remember the first time you picked up a camera and took a real picture? I was fortunate enough to receive my first camera at about 5 - and have never put one down! I want to share this love with my students! I want them to see the difference between good photography and share the joy!
Our population is very diverse - many nationalities and cultures and many abilities.
We are a title 1 school and in a very low-income community where most children receive free lunch. We have an in-depth special education program, a gifted and talented program and a dual language program. My new computer room & photography group will service Kindergarteners through 5th grade!
My Project
I want students to experience photography with a real camera. I want to teach them about settings, aperture and shutter speed. I want to expose them to a skill and science that many will never experience. Tech squad members will be the first to learn how to use the camera and take photos at events to share with the school community. We will photograph objects, people and places, and print them on Epson paper. Eventually, I would love to expose the whole student body to the art and science that is photography!
In a digital world where everyone travels with a phone and built in camera, the art of photography is disappearing.
I want to expose my students to the science and skills involved in real photography and give them an opportunity they may not have in other schools settings. Please help me share my lifelong passion with my 1300 angels and introduce the art of photography to their worlds!
