My students need a digital camera, construction and drafting tools, engine and energy reference models and Arduino reference materials to start our STEM Makerspace.

My Students
A key component in STEM education is enabling students to unlock power of their imaginations. "Everything you can imagine is real," Pablo Picasso said, a STEM Makerspace would allow that to be a reality for my students.
We are a public college preparatory school in the heart of Texas.
My students are inquisitive, energetic and curious. We are a Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics magnet high school. My students want to grow up to be geoscientists, mechanical engineers, environmental engineers, roboticists and the like.
My Project
Part of closing the digital divide includes showing students how they can best use technology for their own benefit. Adding Arduino reference books to our learning library will allow our students to use their knowledge of computer science to move beyond being mere users of technology, and become creators. A digital camera and drafting supplies would allow our students to document their project progress, and the requested tools would allow our students to bring their ideas to life.
Putting this technology in the hands of my students will open up a wealth of knowledge.
Encouraging students to be more literate in science, technology, engineering and mathematics will not only have a positive impact on the students, but will provide a boost to future technological innovations that may impact us all.
