This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students are energetic, 4-year-olds who love to learn! Our class is made up of 10 boys and 8 girls. Our small school is a kind and caring learning environment, nestled in a neighborhood just outside of downtown Los Angeles.

Approximately 75% of our students are considered economically disadvantaged and qualify for free or reduced rate lunch.

Our population is diverse with students coming from many ethnic backgrounds. We have received the honors of Title I High Achieving School and California Distinguished School.

My Project

When my students come to school in August, it will be their very first day of school ever! In ETK, we are starting at the very beginning with skills such as holding a pencil and writing your name.

We will use whiteboards and whiteboard markers for daily name-writing practice.

In addition to helping with early literacy skills, the use of whiteboards will help encourage kids to think about making environmentally friendly choices.

The whiteboards will be used as part of whole group instruction, differentiated small group instruction, and individual practice. This way, all students will get the practice they need while saving hundreds of pieces of paper throughout the school year.
