Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students are learning virtually on school supplied computers and learning programs. I am teaching them grade level standards in the areas of Language Arts, Reading and Writing. Unfortunately, we had to urgently social distance and we left our classroom. We were unable to return to get our materials because of our health and safety during this pandemic. My students have what is in their homes and they are making the best experience of learning with very few learning materials.
My Project
The novel requested will be used to engage, motivate and serve as a tool for instruction to 60 fifth grade students. Students are learning from their homes with little to no reading material.
Novels are a great way to get students reading, thinking, learning and immersed in positive experiences.
My hope is that this novel study will take students to love the reading time they have and encourage them to read even more on their own. The basic school supplies requested will help students organize the information they learn: vocabulary, comprehension, reading strategies, etc., in a journal. The reading journal will also provide students a time of reflection on what they have learned. To create the journal, students will use a regular composition journal, handouts I provide, colored pencils, glue sticks and their creativity and imagination. The students will be so grateful for a donation to them of any kind.
