My students need recycling and garbage bins to protect our environment.

My Students
“Unless someone like you cares a whole awful lot, nothing is going to get better. It's not.”- The Lorax. Dr. Seuss creates a vivid image for learners with this tale of caution. It is my goal to teach students about the benefits of reducing, reusing, and recycling waste in our daily lives.
My students are among the most driven and eager learners I have ever encountered.
Upon announcing an interest in creating a recycling initiative in our school, students motivated other teachers to contribute. Their enthusiasm for this project is inspiring and the students are truly “Green Superheroes,” which is our nickname for their team and its efforts. I teach a population of Chinese students consisting of English Language Learners (ELLs) in New York City's Chinatown. My joyful students are eager to learn and participate in the recycling process, but our initiative is at a standstill without further funding.
My Project
Our class needs recycling and trash bins to beautify our school. We need these bins to separate paper, plastic, and cans. Previously, our school did not have a recycling initiative, but upon seeing my students' interests in creating a cleaner and greener environment, I wanted to create a school wide project to better educate our learners.
Our "Green Superheroes" will be in charge of educating other students about the benefits reducing and recycling their waste.
We hope that with children leading the discussion, more young learners will become interested in how they can eliminate waste, beautify our school, and teach their families how to be more green.
