Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

My students are inquisitive, informed, and highly motivated. They have been bogged down by required readings of an outdated canon. These books will enhance my classroom library and my students will love having modern, diverse, and multimodal books to read. While they appreciate and in some cases love some of the "classics," they have lost their love of reading and feel a disconnect to some of the texts taught in their English classes.

Cases of book banning have risen at an alarming rate.

A vocal minority is working to eliminate books by and about people of color and/or LGBTQ writers/characters. Your donation of diverse books will help my students to feel seen.

My students want to see themselves and their peers in the books that they read. Help my students rekindle their love of reading by giving them access to books that can work as both mirrors and windows.
