Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
This school year, I will have 25 first graders that I am sure are ready to experience a full day of making friends and learning. These students have not been to school in over a year. I want to make it a fun and seamless year. Our school is a Title 1 school in the Belmont-Cragin neighborhood in Chicago. My students are bilingual learners and are excited to know how to speak and read in two languages.
We have a great school community, supportive admin, and wonderful families.

My Project
I am using these new books to inspire my students to love and care for their Earth in a more proactive way. We need to understand that the Earth is such a precious resource and gives us so much. We have to treat it with care and kindness. I'm positive that these great books will teach us a lot about the subject. I am starting a new THEME in our class library and it will be all about our precious environment and planet. I am hoping that the read alouds will inspire students to recycle, reuse and to consume only what is necessary.
