Save Our Ears And Our Hair!

Help me give my students headphones that will not hurt their ears or fall apart after only a few weeks of use. We would benefit from headphones that will last for years and be better for the environment.

My Project

I work in the computer lab with students from Kindergarten through fifth grade and I see close to 400 individual students per week and they all have to share around 25 pairs of headphones. The school district provides headphones for the whole school for testing purposes on their computers, however, the headphones are very cheaply made and break very easily which then causes them to press into their ears and head causing them discomfort. This is especially problematic with our students in our structured learning program. Many of them have sensory issues and refuse to wear the headphones I currently have. We are also a very diverse school district and there are a lot of hair styles that these headphones get tangled in as well.

We would love to have our own set of good quality, yet affordable headphones for our computer lab so the students will feel comfortable wearing them.

They would also be over the ear so they would not be distracted by outside noises. the quality would be such that I am not throwing out one or two pairs each day as I am now. I do not have a budget for my own computer lab set of headphones and must rely on any extras the school has ordered for their state testing purposes. I have been collecting better headphones when I go thrifting and have a few pairs to give out. But it's costly to me and I am not always able to find a good source of working headphones. These headphones would also be easier to keep clean and sanitary in comparison to the ones I have now.
