it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
Many of our students rely on school-owned instruments that experience daily wear and tear. Without routine care supplies like valve oil, slide grease, cork grease, and cleaning swabs, instruments quickly become unplayable leading to lost instructional time, student frustration, and unnecessary repair costs. Due to campus, district, and state-wide budget shortfalls, we are no longer able to stock these materials at sustainable levels. This project is designed to offset that deficit with high-need, low-cost maintenance items that extend instrument life and keep our students playing.
Access to functional instruments is the minimum requirement for meaningful music education.
Our students work hard to meet the standards of the district and the state, often without access to private lessons or personal instruments. Financial barriers—like the cost of a $5 bottle of valve oil—can hold them and the program back. Supplying these basic materials removes a significant obstacle for our program and ensures that all students, regardless of income, can fully participate.
