Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

Help save our classrooms books! The students in my classroom love to read. Every week they are anxious to check out books from our classroom library. Unfortunately the books in our classroom library have been "loved" too much. We are in desperate need of take-home book bags to protect our books. The students in our school live in a very economically underprivileged neighborhood. The books that they check out from the classroom are some of the only books they have access to, as there are scarce literacy resources in their homes. Unfortunately, many of the students live in crowded apartments where the books often can get mistreated. Some of my students' families have not even been able to afford backpacks for their children. While my students are eager to take the books home, the classroom books need to be protected while they are checked out. If my students had take-home bags to protect their books, I would be able to send even more valuable reading material home. Thank you for being a part of making reading at home possible for my students!
