Many of my students have a limited personal library, but love reading and want books of their own. We have a large diverse classroom library, but my students deserve to have a diverse library of quality picture books at home, too.
This project is for copies of the book "Saturday" by Oge Mora so that each student can have their own copy to take home.
The book "Saturday" is about a little girl and her mother spending time together on a Saturday. They have a lot of fun plans but things ended up going differently than expected. This book emphasizes that being together with someone you love is so much more important than what you do. This is one of my students’ favorite books - it teaches the importance of flexibility and spending time with loved ones. It also features diverse characters so that my students can have a book with characters who look like them and have similar experiences. This project would provide my students with the opportunity to share this book with their families and take home a copy for their personal libraries.
