Help us find a space to work together! Our students face numerous challenges throughout the course of the school year. Finding a comfortable spot to work together cooperatively should not be one of them.
Our NYC classroom is made up of both general education and special education students.
It is a very diverse inner city public school. Our students thrive off one another and learn through conversation and cooperative group work. In such a diverse class setting, we spend a lot of classroom time working in small groups. However, we end up on the floor or crammed around one desk.
My Project
If we are fortunate to receive this table and chairs, our students will have the chance to sit and work cooperatively. This will be known as a "special area" to meet with other children. The children will benefit from this area in several ways and across all academic areas. In math, this will allow them to share manipulatives without any getting lost between the desks. In writing, this will allow them to work cooperatively and share ideas with other children besides the ones the sit next to.
Overall this one table and chairs will honestly impact the learning and the needs of our children.
The class will now have a formal meeting area that is free of distractions. This meeting area will be used across all academic areas all year long. All learners including children with special needs, general educations and English language learners would benefit from a cooperative learning area!
