My Students

"If you don't have the time to read, you don't have the time (or the tools) to write. Simple as that." -Stephen King By the end of the school year, I want my students to begin understanding the world they live in and start planning their educational future.

I have the most wonderful 5th grade class.

They are students with various learning disabilities. Their disabilities range from FAS, TBI, ADHD, and memory, however, they are the hardest working students I have ever had. Even when they begin to lose focus they are always trying their best. My students come from low economic households. Our school is a Title I school, where most students receive free school lunch. We do not have the resources to provide all necessary materials to provide targeted small group instruction. I strive each day to make a difference in my students lives and tell them the world is a better place because they are in it.

My Project

Special needs students learn best through targeted small group instruction. Our class desperately needs this chart stand, so that we can have a dedicated area to provide students with the differentiation they need to succeed. This stand will allow for storage of various materials so that every learner can be reached. It will also allow for each student to have a private learning environment, so that they can focus during their targeted instruction.

This project will improve my classroom because many of my students need targeted small group instruction in order to be successful.

Students will be able to improve their confidence, as they learn topics at their own ability level. Having a dedicated area, will make transitions smoother and differentiated materials will be readily available.
