This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My students are creative, kind, intelligent, and inspiring. As 12th grade students, they are enjoying their last year of high school while determining what the future holds. This is a huge time in their lives to make decisions about their college and career paths.
They each need support in developing their self-advocacy and independence, while also needing to be loved and seen as unique individuals.
Many of these students are learning with an Individualized Education Plan and/or learning English as a new language, and our school community strives to support these needs and engage all members of our community to thrive as they approach adulthood and graduation.
My Project
Many of my students are returning to the building for the first time since March 2020! My co-teachers and I want to ensure that we provide them as much comfort and safety as possible.
We are creating a sanitizing station for students to wipe down their desks and computers, replace a mask, and grab an individual pack of tissues or sanitizer.
Many of our students need snacks and the individual snacks we provide can be eaten quickly or saved for later, as students are no longer able to eat freely in the classroom. Finally, by laminating some anchor materials in our classroom, we can wipes these surfaces down as they are shared by groups of students.
