My students need materials to create a memorial quilt for Sandy Hook Elementary. My students want to reach out to the Sandy Hook Community and this project will do that.

My Students
The best gifts are the ones that are hand made. As a school who has been through a trauma such as Sandy Hook's, we feel it is important to reach out to the community. When our school went through a tragedy, we were amazed at the out pour of support from our community and we want to pay it forward.
Our students are loving, caring, and always looking out for others.
They are 4th graders who love life, their friends, and their school. We are an inner city public school whose students are looking to comfort and support their fellow peers the way they were comforted in their hard time.
My Project
Our class will be creating a memorial quilt for Sandy Hook Elementary. Each student will help in creating the design for the quilt and then each contributing their own quilt square. They will be designing and writing words of encouragement and hope for Sandy Hook. The quilt will have over 500 pieces to it and will be filled with stuffing and love to support our fellow peers and educators.
This project is important to our class because we too have faced hard times and tragedy within our school.
We had much support from people across the nation and in our community. We want Sandy Hook to know we are thinking about them, love them, and will support them in any way we can. Schools are families and our family believes in reaching out and helping those who need love and comfort in hard times.
