This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Project
I have begun my training as a sandtray therapist, and to offer that to my clients (students at DCES), I need some specific supplies. The Portable Sand Tray Kit will allow me to use sand tray directives in sessions with my elementary school students to help them process emotions and trauma, improve regulation, and share information without having to use words. Best of all, kids (and adults) love it!
We are going to do hard work in therapy, but that does not mean it can't be fun.
The sand tray kit will come with a spill proof container, over 160 miniatures, and a carrying bag. Miniatures are used to create scenes and share without words, so a large variety of miniatures is necessary. This kit provides a curated selection of miniatures that clients can use to tell their stories, allowing us to explore their feelings and experiences more fully. While most of my sessions occur in the school, summertime sessions in particularly often occur in the community, and portability will allow me to continue sandtray work wherever we meet, be it at the library, local parks, or camp.
