My Project

Sand Tray therapy is a very effective medium for students with very limited to no language ability to communicate their internal world and emotional reactions to their difficult life experiences in order to receive the support they so very much need. The majority of my students in the self-contained classes at SJMS have very limited to no language skills with low cognitive functioning.

Students with limited or no verbal ability are often unable to share their experiences to those around them and they need effective and engaging media for self expression.

In Sand Tray therapy objects and figurines are used to physicalize and externalize students' stories, which are then processed.
