Play is an essential part of the learning process for young children. Exploration, experimentation, and discovery help children make sense of the world. One of my central goals as a teacher of young children is to provide these key experiences for my students.
I am asking for donations to acquire a sand and water table for use in my kindergarten classroom. This table will be used as a center for sensory activities where children can develop understanding of basic, essential math skills relating to size, shape, and measurement, as well as key scientific principles such as properties of matter, and floating and sinking. Additionally, language skills, eye-hand coordination, and small muscle development are enhanced by the tactile experiences available at such a center.
