Sand and Mental Health

Help me give my students a place where they can play with sand in our calm down corner!

My Project

My students love to play in sand! Why not help with their mental health while working on their hand-eye coordination! I will use the sand and sand toys for my sand table that I received last year! The sand table is located in my calm down corner of my classroom.

When students are stressed, angry or just overwhelmed with school work, they are able to go to my calm down corner and play with the sand until they are ready to join the class.

This helps them calm down without all the attention on them. It also lets them be alone while they try to calm down. This all helps their mental health because they know that they are able to go somewhere and calm down and not hold their emotions in. My students are special because they are still in the learning stages of how to control their emotions. This will help them right now and in the future!
