Our class would like Let's Go Fishing Math Centers, Magnetic Letters Kit, Sensory Sand, Magnetic Money, puzzles, paint, and Geostix. My students need these items because they all learn a different ways and at different levels.
This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
My students are lovable, energetic, and eager student with multiple disability/ autism who deserve an inviting and comfortable space to call home for 7 hours of the day. Our school is a Title One school with 100% of our students receiving free or reduced lunches. Many of my students live in homes that are less than ideal. However, all of my students are hard workers who are excited about learning. That being said, they are 5 and 6 years old. They like to wiggle, wiggle, and wiggle some more. My goal is to provide all of my students with a safe and comfortable environment where they are free to be kids, free to move, and free to learn in a way that best meets their individual needs.
My Project
With such a wide range of academic and social needs within my classroom, it can be challenging to differentiate lesson materials to ensure each student's needs are being met, but it has to be done! Some students are working on letter recognition while others are developing their sight word knowledge, rhyming, identifying the alphabet and story sequencing . Some students are just beginning to identify numbers and others are adding and subtracting and some identifying money. The materials I selected for this projected were specifically tailored for my students' individual educational goals.
"IF THEY CAN'T LEARN THE WAY WE TEACH, WE TEACH THEY WAY THEY LEARN."
By donating to our project, you will be encouraging the literacy and social development through play for some pretty amazing kids!
These materials will provide my students the opportunity to engage in interactive, hands-on games which will expand their oral language, comprehension, letter/sound recognition, and sight word knowledge. While my students are always working on improving their literacy development, they are also working on their social growth. One of the selected games, will allow my students to practice turn-taking, problem solving, and self-regulation techniques through play.
I have seen how play has impacted the social and academic growth of my students in such a positive way, and would love the opportunity to expand on this success!
