Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
We are a fine arts Title 1 school in the Bronx New York. After COVID we found that students needed an outlet like dance to build community and to encourage movement.
Access to instruments is an important addition to any dance class specifically a latin dance class like Salsa.
At its core Salsa music utilizes the conga and cowbell. Nothing compares to the energy live music can create in a classroom.
I believe if students have the opportunity to hear the music live, it will help strengthen their relationship with movement as well as build community and strengthen their own bonds within their cultures.
Nearly all students from low‑income households
Data about students' economic need comes from the National Center for Education Statistics, via our partners at MDR Education. Learn more
