Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
In our low-income/high poverty school district where 100% of the students qualify for free lunch, my students are faced with many challenges both in and out of the classroom. To combat the many challenges they face, I am determined to provide and expose them to the technology and skills they need to succeed in the 21st century. They are curious, eager to learn, and desperate to please anyone who takes an interest! My students don't have technology at home so I'm looking to provide it in our classroom for them to experience. Keeping them engaged and learning new ways to incorporate technology is a goal.
My Project
When we return to class in Fall there will still be some safety protocols we will need to follow. My first graders would benefit from having their own storage bins for their various manipulatives.
These bins would help my first graders stay organized and let them have their own hands-on manipulatives readily available for use anywhere in the classroom.
To stay engaged we frequently change counters so these sturdy bins would keep individual manipulatives germ free until we sterilize them.
The name plates, name tags and stickers will be helpful in learning everyone’s names the first week of school.
