Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
I teach a great group of 13, joyful, and energetic preschool students, whose primary language is Spanish. Our school serves low-income households and I want to make sure that every student develops to their fullest potential.
They love to sing, move, and play everyday because they feel comfortable and playing is what they do best.
The students display eagerness to learn and are bursting with energy, which allows teachers to take advantage to implant small seeds of knowledge that will benefit their future educational paths. They love to try new activities and games that involve using their hands and bodies.
The students are highly motivated in learning by engaging in different games that involves cooperation, movement and creativity. Additionally, games promote social and problem solving skills that every individual needs to succeed in life. These young learners need to be physically active and use their sensory learning style to be motivated and fully engaged.
My Project
These materials will help spark the students' eagerness to learn to a different level. Teaching will become more enjoyable and learning will be more attractive and amusing. Due to the required 3 feet social distancing guidelines, the students are not allowed to sit on a traditional rug for instruction time. These seating squares will give them opportunities to sit in small groups for instruction and still feel part of our class community, rather than sitting at their individual tables. The students will be more engaged and focused on instruction while still feeling safe by keeping the appropriate distance. The individual sitting squares will make a big difference in our classroom learning experience.
Games are powerful tools to teach and practice desired skills.
These games will not only give them the chance to practice numeral skills, but also social, oral, problem solving and gross motor skills as well. Every material will help make a difference in our students' learning journey.
