Safety Measures to View Two Solar Eclipses Next Year!

Help me give my students envelopes and eclipse glasses protectors to safely view the two partial eclipses next year.

My Project

Next year there will be two solar eclipses visible across large swaths of the United States. Here in Naples Florida we will get 60% and 50% of the sun covered by the moon in these events. This year I have already procured enough safety eclipse glasses for every student in my school (1700 students). This new project is to help me get the word out about safely viewing the eclipses (Annular Solar Eclipse Oct 14, 2023 and Total Solar Eclipse April 8, 2024) and distributing the glasses. I will be printing 1700 safety and consent forms to go home with everyone (printer cartridges help here). Those who return the forms will receive a printed envelope (more print action) with a set of eclipse glasses inside (envelopes, file folders and painters tape help in this step). The envelope will have information about safely viewing the eclipses. The glasses themselves will be enclosed in thick cardstock (fashioned from the hanging folders) and taped closed with the painters tape.

The two solar eclipses next year will be the last eclipses to occur over the continental United States for 20 years.

I want my students to be able to witness these historic events safely. To that end we plan on getting everything ready to go before the October eclipse. This will take a lot of printing (1700 envelopes and safety pages). It will take many man-hours of prep work (mainly with cutting up the file folders).
