Safety Goggles and Robotics Fabrication Lab Materials
Help me give my students safety equipment and DIY materials to fabricate gears for our FIRST FTC Robotics team!
FULLY FUNDED! Mx. B's classroom raised $337

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
Our robotics team is in our second year, and at competitions we observe that other teams are able to create their own sprockets and gears by using a laser cutter and strong craft wood, or 3D printers and plastic filament.
Our team would like to purchase our own set of safety goggles so we can protect, sensitive student eyes from moving robot parts, flying wood chips, metal shavings, and other hazards to this sensitive student body part.
(Students will wear them while using equipment in our wood/plastic Fab Lab.)
In addition, this project includes craft wood and glue, so we can fabricate our gears, and iterate on our engineering designs more quickly, without being slowed down by procurement and purchasing processes. By creating our materials, will learn about gear ratios and our laser cutting equipment, which includes a 450nm NICHIA Diode Laser that can cut through wood up to 0.2" inches thickness. Students will get hands-on practice configuring laser settings such as resolution, laser power %, depth, and number of passes.
This project also includes cables and lock anchors to secure equipment like label makers and laptops out and available for student use without needing a teacher to unlock a cabinet or keep an eye on devices that need to stay in place, in the classroom. Thank you for helping our robotics team!
