This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
I teach at a school that was struck by many events since I've started working here, including the ongoing pandemic, a tornado, floods and a fire. Our student body is also Hispanic in the most part. I know that my students have what they need to become scientists and to develop science projects. They're brilliant and funny and just need a push in the right direction to be able to make a great impact in an ever-changing STEM world.
My Project
If you go through this wish list, you'll notice that most of the stuff we're asking for is cleaning supplies and PPE. There's not a lot of commodities or unnecessary stuff in this list.
With the ongoing pandemic, Delta variant, which are affecting children at a higher rate and being in a state where online learning has not been an option again, it is of the utmost importance to me, as a teacher, to make sure my students have a fun, safe and clean space in which they can forget about reality for a while and enjoy diving into the world of science.
This pandemic is not the first thing that my students have had to face in the past years. We have had enough unfortunate events for a lifetime. In my past years working at this school we had a tornado, flash floods, a fire and gas explosions. That's a lot for 12 year olds. Please help me help these brilliant kids who need to be given a chance.
