Lively, energetic, and kind are three words I would use to describe our young learners. Every day, they do their best to achieve all that they can. Our students desperately want to be actively involved in what they do in the classroom.
Living in a large city can be difficult for many young children.
My young learners live close to the downtown area in our city. They go to a Title I school where all students receive free breakfast and lunch daily. Their basic food needs, except for dinner, are taken care of, but now they need something to sustain their minds.
My Project
A Science Lab can be a dangerous place. For this reason, we would like to have items funded that will protect children during labs.
Safety Glasses and Labcoats (sweatshirts that I'll modify) are essential to keep children safe and sound during their time in Science class.
Our glasses will be used specifically during experiments. They will protect tender eyes for chemical and non-chemical reactions in the eye. For example, we used lemons on apples and the juice squirted into a child's eye. This would not have happened if we had safety goggles.
The new sweatshirts will have a dual purpose. I need these twelve in addition to the ones we already have so that we can use them as Labcoats. I cut them down the middle and they look nice. Also, it gets cold when the AC goes on. These will help to resolve the issue of children saying, "I'm cold."
