My Students

My students are pre-engineering students and architecture students interested in applying their math and science skills in a hands-on learning environment. As their teacher, I am always searching for new and innovative ways to keep them up to date in this world of ever adapting technology.

We are currently looking to add modern tools and materials that will expand our learning of how objects are designed.

Our hands-on learning activities have incorporated the design of structures and vehicles in the past.

My Project

My students need safety equipment to operate the laser cutter that was just donated.

They will need safety glasses rated to 10,600 nm to protect any reflected CO2 laser light.

This would be a double protection since the machine already has a blocking filter in place, but I would like to guard twice against it. They will also need to protect the laser from any power surges with a surge protector, as well as the water pump and air pump. To make sure the correct power is being used, a caliper is needed to measure the thickness of the material we will be cutting.

For good measure, we are also asking for signs to warn of laser use, and a first aid burn kit in hopes we will never need to use it.
