My Students
I teach fifth graders social studies and science. My classes consist of many nationalities! It consists of thriving minds, full of questions and theories! My students are like sponges, absorbing what they learn like a sponge absorbs water! I take pride in shaping their minds one day at a time. New to departmentalizing, I have the opportunity to expose these young minds to the history of our country as well as our universe. One way we use the internet in science is to explore simulations of our universe (focusing on and getting a deep understanding of the distance of stars). In social studies, we have started using the internet to broaden our understanding of how our continents formed. This is just the beginning!
My Project
I teach science to three fifth grade classes. My students need experiments to reinforce material
Read
In books. Each class is divided into six groups. Each group conducts their own experiment and as they do, I’m able to walk around and observe and question what is happening. Students are able to discuss, make connections with text, and deepen their understanding on important concepts taught in the lesson. I want all students to take part in conducting experiments!. The canisters of wipes and goes will allow students to conduct experiments in a clean and safe environment without interruptions or distractions. Especially with other scientist at work! The materials will making science more exciting, and learning fun!
