My Students
You would likely find students similar to mine in just about any elementary school in the nation. Their school recently opened up, only to be shut down because of the pandemic. The next year was an experiment of teaching safely with all the protocols in place. We are continuing to learn new ways to encourage safe learning practices as every student in the school files through the music classroom each week.
Children thrive on consistency and stability--basic needs that I hope to provide to them as their music teacher for the foreseeable future.
As we are learning about each other and finding ways to grow together, new needs are continuously arising and new solutions are being found.
My Project
In our music classroom we learn from a variety of activities. Some of these activities require lots of open space. Other activities require somewhere to sit other than the ground. Currently, we have chairs that fall down if not stacked exactly right. This is a safety hazard and I have spent much of my time stacking the chairs myself so that students aren't injured by falling chairs.
Having these stacking stools will help to improve the safety in my classroom, as well as saving time and room for other activities or tasks.
