Proper posture is important when students learn any instrument. Using music stands provides the opportunity for kids to be able to sit tall and read sheet music while playing. Our school is one of the lucky ones to already have some instruments to play, in this case we have ukuleles. Try to imagine what it would look like for a group of students learning to read sheet music on desks while playing ukuleles. Now, imagine the same group of students sitting tall in their seats with their music properly placed on a music stand in front of them. Not only will these music stands help my students in their music literacy journey, they will also encourage good posture and promote healthy musicianship. These stands are very high quality and will last for many years, providing the same benefits to multiple students throughout the life of the stands--not just the 270 or so students who would benefit from having them this school year. This project, if fulfilled, has the potential to benefit thousands of students.
