My students are full of energy, eager to learn new things, make awesome connections in their learning, and make me smile every day!
In our classroom, we learn, laugh, and love.
My students learn from each other as they work collaboratively around the classroom. With their various experiences and knowledge, they share, teach, explore, and learn.
My students come from various socio-economic backgrounds and family dynamics. More than half of them come from military families. Despite differences, we celebrate our classroom community.
My vision for a classroom safe space includes a comfortable area with a rug, bean bag chair, weighted blanket, and items in a basket to choose from such as books, soothing glitter bottles, and calming/fidget toys. This area is for students to take time to process, calm down, or just be alone.
Safe spaces are critical in today's classrooms.
Safe spaces are a place in the classroom that students choose to go to for calming and security. These spaces help teach social-emotional strategies that students can use in the classroom and in their life.
Students will use this safe space to practice mindfulness strategies and breathing techniques that will be taught in our classroom.
