This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

My goal is to give all students a space where they can safely express their emotions. My young learners are special because it’s their first school experience and a safe space with inviting materials to settle their emotions is crucial. The carpet will give warmth to the space and rocking chairs will give them flexible seating in comfort, The soft materials such as soft plushies that I want to provide for my student will allow them use their sensory. The ethnic dolls will provide familiiarity, sense of belonging, and enhance their fine motor skills as well.

Safe space will be a special area that will help my students process their emotions.

I would like for my students to have access on a space with materials for learning to self-soothe. My students are still developing their basic understanding of their own emotions and the emotions of others.
