Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

What I love most about my students is their resilience, kindness, and the happiness they bring to class every day. Like all young children, they are still learning how to understand and manage big emotions. My goal is to create that environment for them, along with tools that help them grow emotionally and thrive both in and out of the classroom.

To support this, I’m creating a calming corner and dedicated space where the students can go to regulate their emotions in a healthy, safe way.

This space will include a pillow, a soft lamp, and a bookshelf to create a cozy, welcoming area. I’ll add calming posters and would also like to add a visual breathing light to guide students through mindfulness techniques. Fidget toys will offer quiet, sensory-based tools to help them focus and reset. Each item is chosen with the intention to support self-regulation and emotional well-being.
