This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

I am teaching Kindergarten and 1st grade this year, a truly special time for young learners as they begin their formal education. For many, this is their first experience sharing a space and an adult’s attention with more than 20 other children.

In K-1, we engage in meaningful whole-class discussions, work independently, my students thrive with flexibility and benefit from diverse learning models.

We love stepping beyond traditional table-and-chair activities, incorporating hands-on experiences that feel like play.

A flexible learning environment is essential for my students, giving them the freedom to move, explore, and take ownership of their space. Our classroom rug serves as a second learning area for small group work and independent activities. However, our current rug is nearly eight years old, slipping, and no longer safe for students.

Please help me to provide my young learners with a new, clean, and soft rug—a space where they can comfortably work, play, and grow!
