This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My students are a group of energetic scholars. They are eager learners who are ready to take on the challenges of the 21st century. They are young people that simply need the resources to stimulate their creative minds.
With support from hard-working families, my students have to balance their rigorous academic work while navigating through the challenges of distance learning while living through a pandemic.
Regardless of the issues they face on a daily basis, they have goals, drive, and most importantly, they are hungry for knowledge. They possess great aspirations for change in their neighborhood, our country, and the world.
My Project
As we prepare to return to campus in a few weeks, we cannot deny that there is a lot of anxiety on the part of students, parents, and teachers. I, particularly, worry because I am to welcome almost 200 students into my classroom on the first day of school all while we are experiencing another COVID-19 wave in our communities. That is a lot of daily contact!
Having PPE and sanitation materials available for students to access in the classroom will give us peace of mind.
Lastly, having these resources will give parents some breathing room. Preparing to return to school often poses a financial burden for many of our families and having to add PPE and sanitation materials to that list adds to that budget. I'm sure that our parents will appreciate the support as well.
