My Students
I have a wonderful group of students this year. My students come from a variety of backgrounds which allow our classroom to be a place of lots of cultural and diverse learning. Some of my students are receiving free or reduced-price lunch. My students work hard so they can play hard!
My students are a family.
They face very similar struggles and challenges. Most of them have been together since kindergarten and will continue together until high school graduation. My students are "my kids" and I want to do anything and everything I can to help them be successful.
My Project
Because of the COVID-19 pandemic, my students have very limited resources to use in the classroom this year. There are limited supplies to share with our 3rd grade team. To keep all students (and adults) safe, the best thing I can do is try to provide them with their own kits of manipulatives and supplies.
To reduce the spread of viruses, my students need individual math manipulative kits to help them learn math.
We need your help! Students have been out of school since March and there is a lot of learning to make up for. Research shows that before learning abstractly, children need to make the connection with physical objects. Some of the math concepts we will cover and use manipulatives for are adding/subtracting within 1000. We will also use the money pouches to learn how to add and subtract money. Having hands-on manipulatives will help them to fill in the gaps in their learning and help them progress to the next standards while keeping them safe.
