This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My Early Childhood Special Education (ECSE) classroom services children ages 3- 5 that range from a variety of disabilities. We work on our communication, cognitive, social/emotional, and daily living skills. My students learn to become more independent and help in their own self-care. My students learn through a variety of different means, from social stories to songs and videos and pretend play. We range from ages 3yr, 4 (PreK), and 5 (K). Because of our different age ranges and abilities, we have to become very creative when learning new themes and topics.
My Project
Coloring is a must in Early Childhood. We can not get enough of coloring! Not only for coloring but for learning about same/ different, classifying, fine motor skills and learning. Providing colors and pencils for my students at the beginning of the school year gives my students a step up for learning because they have the supplies they need to learn from the get go. The disinfectant will guarantee the students have a clean, safe classroom for learning. The concern of getting COVID- 19 will be in the background because we will ensure the classroom is cleaned hourly and allow fun, exciting learning to be happening. Teaching special needs students also comes with challenges of making sure the students receive the nutrients they need specific to their special needs. The refrigerator allow us to follow students specific food needs, as well as keep fruits and vegetables for them during snack time.
By donating to our project, you will not only help to provide students with supplies, you will ultimately help to increase their academic achievement by giving them the school supplies they need from the beginning.
Students will be able to use their colors and pencils from day one, allowing them to start learning right away. The fridge will allow us to have fun food Friday's, where students will learn about sequencing, following directions, measuring, and having fun at the same time!
