Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My students are part of a design based learning school. The school is located in a low income area, and is considered Title 1. My students are a bright group of individuals who are part of magnet program. Most of them are very excited to engage in scientific inquiries, however the district lacks funding to provide these opportunities on a regular basis. Students from this school often express that they have never really "done" science, but show much enthusiasm about engaging in experiments.
My Project
Students are back in the classroom this year after a long year of distance learning. Custodial staff are cleaning more than ever to keep students safe although we are trying to stay as safe as possible, there are some essential materials that will help us have a clean, safe, learning environment. I have included things like face masks, hand sanitizer, a broom and dustpan, and antibacterial wipes. These essential items will be used directly in the classroom. Students learn best when they feel comfortable and safe in class - these items will help achieve that!
