Having so many students with social emotional needs, I am trying to set up my classroom where they feel safe and able to focus on the content being presented to them. By providing all students, including the students with ADD, ADHD, and autism, with fidget spinners, they will be able to increase their concentration and attention to the concept being taught within my room. Research implies that overactive movements, such as fidgeting, helps improve performance on required tasks in children. The soft and cozy design of bean bags have been proven to help promote relaxation and lower tension and anxiety and with so many of my students facing social and emotional distress. Relaxing in a bean bag can help them feel peaceful and allow them to decompress and focus on themselves and the content at hand within my class. My number one priority is that it ensures these kids feel safe and loved while in the classroom, and if they do, they will better be able to grasp concepts being presented to them. With the many physical and mental health benefits that bean bags provide, my students begin to overcome obstacles one at a time.
