My Students

My students are third graders who are a part of Utah's Dual Immersion program, which means that their pacing moves even faster. We want to help to make every minute we have with our students count and to give them access to the technology that has become so crucial to their post-Covid-19 learning.

Our students push themselves on a daily basis to comprehend many foundational concepts that are new to Third Grade.

They are tenacious and are great examples to us of what can be accomplished when students feel supported and engaged at school.

My Project

Four years ago, I acquired 30 iPads for my Dual Immersion students through my district's Innovation Grant. After 4 years of usual wear and especially after the past 2 years of hybrid learning, the iPad cases are breaking or cracking. This breakage results in the iPads not fitting into their cases and they occasionally slip out while in use.

We cannot afford to lose the protection these iPad cases have offered, as we rely heavily on our iPads to continue using apps like Nearpod and Seesaw.

These apps especially, with their "Draw it" features and the ability to record videos and photos to add to their portfolios have helped students to engage on a more personal level with math and French literacy.

I am also requesting high-quality headsets with microphones. We have had parents donate earbuds in the past, but they fall apart or get lost easily. We need some headsets with microphones so that students can practice and grow their French oral skills. Having bigger headsets will make them easier to assign, disinfect and store.
