Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
We are a school on the far northeast side of Chicago where 100% of the students receive free lunch. My school is located in a very low-income community. Most of the students come from immigrant families, and are also refugees. Due to the lack of funding, I am writing to seek your support for our school's Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS) program. At our school we have been successfully implementing PBIS to promote good behavior among our students, reinforcing values such as respect, responsibility, and integrity. One of the key components of our program is the "Safari Store," where students can redeem earned paw prints for prizes that act as incentives for their positive behavior. Our PBIS program has been incredibly effective in shaping a positive school culture. However, recently, we lost the space we were using to house the Safari Store.
As a result, we face a significant challenge: we now need appropriate storage solutions to house the prizes that our students eagerly anticipate.
Without a dedicated space and proper storage, it is becoming increasingly difficult to maintain this crucial aspect of our PBIS program. We are seeking funding to acquire storage cabinets and shelves that will provide a secure and organized space for our Safari Store prizes. These storage solutions will help us maintain the integrity and sustainability of our PBIS program while ensuring that students continue to benefit from the rewards of their good behavior.
