Celebrate Black Teachers and Students

This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Students

"RVLA is not like a school. It's more like a home. It feels like family here." These words by one of our students really sum up what our school is and who our students are.

They are a family.

They treat each other well. They help each other. Our students are wonderful. They show so much initiative and leadership in their education and school. They blow my mind every day. They are also creative. And that's why this opportunity is so important.

My Project

Our school, RVLA was founded on the idea that every child in every community deserves to go to a great school. RVLA committed to their community to serve all who walked in their door and prepare them for college, leadership, and life.

We are raising money to fund the new photography class.

We'd like to purchase between five and ten Digital SLR cameras, as well as their required accessories for our high school class. Our scholars are building websites to highlight their digital accolades and will end the course with a portfolio that will help propel them into the next years of their lives. The confidence I hope to instill through this digital medium will provide our scholars with an opportunity they might not otherwise have. From the bottom of my heart, thank you for your support.
